How can I share a desk with other people?
- Open the sharing dialog by clicking the blue "Share desk name" button in the top menu.
- Make sure that your desk can be found (optional): Change the desk's url into something more telling (i.e. "/vacation" instead of "/n8sD9s") and add a description and keywords starting with "#" (i.e. "#vacation") to make finding your desk easier. What you put in the description field will be shown if the desk is shared on services like Facebook.
- Going from here, you have two options:
A) If you want your desk to be publicly available and if you want it to appear on your blog…
- … simply click "Publish!".
Please note: Users will by default be able to play around with all the items on your desk (but NO changes will be saved) and also use your desk as a template for their own use. - Now you can copy the desk's url, share your creation on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, download a thumbnail image or get the embed code for your own website or blog.
B) If you want to share your desk in private or change any other settings, …
- … "Visibility & Permissions" in the lower left corner of the window.
- Private or public? By setting the switch to "unlisted", you can prevent a desk from being shown or listed anywhere (i.e. on your profile page or on Google).
- Define your desk: Is it going to be a collaborative workspace, a personalised game for a chosen bunch, or a public website? Depending on the rights settings, a desk can be just looked at or even be edited by multiple people.*
*Please note: If you allow others to participate, all changes made by you or anyone else on the desk will be instantly visible (it is "live"). However, if you don't allow participation, changes to the desk remain hidden until you click "Update desk name" (because you wouldn't want others to watch while you are making the changes, right?). And remember: you can always activate the preview () to see your desk through the eyes of your audience! - Done! Again, you can copy the desk's url, share your creation on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, download a thumbnail image or get the embed code for your own website or blog.
